Our Mission Statement

VIADUCT Journal is a publication that rejects the academic. Standards set by universities and mainstream journals require the writing of marginalized communities to be easily digestible for liberal audiences & the protection of white fragility and white supremacy. They keep us palatable by watering down what we really mean to say or silence us entirely. 

Our essays range from personal narratives—to critiques on media depictions of diversity—to feminist theory on apocalypse. We also release poets’ works about diaspora, family, and trans love. Founded in 2019 by a small group of trans students, and springing out of a need for uncensored activist writing, VIADUCT publishes what academia won’t.
